This Cookie Policy explains how MEA MEA d.o.o., trading as Marco’s Dive Optics Lab (“we”, “us”, “our”), uses cookies and similar technologies on marcosdiveoptics.com (the “Site”). It tells you what these technologies are, which ones we use, why we use them, how long they last, and the choices you have. Please read it together with our Privacy Policy. Our Site is hosted on the Shopify commerce platform.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit. They let a site work correctly, work more efficiently, remember your choices, and provide information to the site owner. Cookies can store and read information about your visit — for example your settings, the contents of your shopping cart, or how you found and use the Site.

We also use similar technologies such as pixels, tags and browser storage; in this policy we refer to all of them as “cookies”. Some cookies are set by us (“first-party”) and some by the third-party services we use (“third-party”). Cookies can collect information from your browser and device, which is why we ask for your consent before using any that are not strictly necessary.

3. Legal basis and your consent

We use cookies in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679), the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and the Slovenian Electronic Communications Act (Zakon o elektronskih komunikacijah, ZEKom-2, in force since 10 November 2022).

  • Strictly necessary cookies are required for the Site and checkout to work and to keep them secure. They are set on the basis of our legitimate interest and do not require your consent.
  • All other cookies (functional, analytics and advertising) are set only after you give your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time, just as easily as you gave it (see section 8).

4. How we ask for your consent

When you first visit the Site from a region where consent is required, you are shown a cookie consent banner, provided through Shopify’s Customer Privacy tools. From the banner you can Accept, Decline, or open Manage preferences to choose which categories you allow. Non-essential cookies are not activated until you accept them.

We also use Google Consent Mode v2. Until you give consent, Google’s analytics and advertising tags run in a restricted mode that does not read or write advertising or analytics cookies. Your choice is remembered so you are not asked on every page, and you can change it whenever you like.

The exact cookies present can vary slightly depending on how you use the Site and the choices you make. The tables below describe the categories and the main cookies in each.

5.1 Strictly necessary cookies (always active)

These make the Site usable and secure — they enable shopping, checkout, security and remembering your privacy choices. They cannot be switched off through our banner.

5.3 Analytics & performance cookies (consent required)

These help us understand how visitors find and use the Site so we can improve it. The information is aggregated and used for statistics.

Some of our providers (such as Google and Shopify) are based outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. How to manage or withdraw your consent

You are in control of non-essential cookies and can change your mind at any time:

  • On this Site: reopen the cookie banner / “Manage preferences” to change or withdraw your consent. If you are in a region with a privacy choices link, you can also use the Privacy choices / Cookie preferences option in the footer.
  • In your browser: most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Site from working.
  • Google Analytics: you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Google Ads: you can manage ad personalisation in your Google Ad Settings.

We also respect recognised browser-based opt-out signals (such as Global Privacy Control) where we are required to do so.
